“The earth and everything in it, the world and its inhabitants, belong to the LORD….” (v. 1).
I woke up stressed today.
Ever been there?
I’ve made some messes that need to be cleaned up. Other messes have been made for me. There’s a million little things in a too-big world, and it feels like they’re all on my shoulders.
Then I turned here, to Psalm 24, and I rediscovered the great and awesome reassurance it relates: The earth and everything in it, the world and all its inhabitants, belong to the LORD. It—all of it—is in God’s hands. Not just the stuff. The people. Me!
And, if it’s in God’s hands, it’s definitely not on my shoulders.
May we all find rest in the confidence that the weight of the world is His.
